Cakery 19 Online Bakery
Brief

Cakery 19 is a Basel bakery built on a personal craft: plant-based, gluten-free, refined-sugar-free cakes made with organic ingredients and finished with edible flowers and seasonal touches. TechTack built its online storefront — a brand site and shop that sells the craft and takes custom orders for weddings and events.

For an artisanal bakery, the website is the shop window. It has to do what a glossy display case does in person — make you hungry, earn trust, and turn a casual look into an order.

Food is more than sustenance — it's a sensory experience. The site had to carry that feeling, not just list products.

Cakery 19's challenge wasn't volume — it was identity. A handcrafted, plant-based brand needs a storefront that feels as considered as the cakes, while still handling the practical jobs: browsing signatures, ordering, and enquiring about custom work.

The challenge

Cakery 19 makes something genuinely distinctive — gluten-free, refined-sugar-free, plant-based cakes, handcrafted in Basel. A generic template would have flattened exactly what makes the brand worth choosing.

The site had to do several jobs at once: present the signatures appetisingly, let customers buy and arrange pick-up, capture the higher-value weddings & events enquiries, and tell the founder's story credibly enough that a first-time visitor trusts a CHF 130 cake to someone they've never met.

What the storefront does

A focused brand site built around the few actions that matter for a small artisanal bakery.

Shop the signatures

A clean, appetite-led catalogue of signature cakes — Berrytale, Berry Truffle, Mango Lush and more — with pricing in CHF and a simple route to order and pick up.

Weddings & events enquiry

A dedicated path for the high-value custom work, so couples and event planners can reach Cakery 19 for bespoke cakes instead of getting lost in a generic contact form.

Brand story & video

An About narrative and cake-creation videos that show the process and craft — turning a product page into a reason to choose this bakery over a supermarket.

Accounts & newsletter

Sign-in and a newsletter sign-up so Cakery 19 can build a returning audience and a direct channel for seasonal launches and exclusive offers.

How we built it

A small-business e-commerce build where brand feel and a few well-made flows matter more than sprawling features.

  1. 1

Started from the brand, not a template

We grounded the design in Cakery 19's identity — plant-based, seasonal, handcrafted — so the storefront reads as an extension of the craft rather than a stock theme.

  2. 2

    Designed an appetite-led storefront

Image-forward layouts, calm typography, and clear pricing put the cakes centre stage and guide visitors smoothly from browsing to ordering.

  3. 3

Built the shop and custom-order flows

Signature-cake shopping with pick-up, plus a separate, prominent weddings & events enquiry path so the high-value custom work is never buried.

  4. 4

    Wove in story and content

An About narrative and cake-creation videos give first-time visitors the trust signals an artisanal purchase needs.

  5. 5

Added accounts and a direct channel

Sign-in and newsletter capture give Cakery 19 a way to turn one-time buyers into a returning audience for seasonal launches.

The result

Cakery 19 runs a live storefront — cakery19.ch — that sells the craft as much as the cakes. Visitors can browse signatures, order for pick-up, enquire about weddings and events, watch the process, and subscribe for what comes next.

For a founder-led artisanal brand, that's the win: a website that feels handmade, not templated — and quietly does the commercial work in the background.

Can TechTack build e-commerce and brand storefronts for small businesses?

Yes. Cakery 19 is a live example of TechTack building an appetite-led brand storefront with shopping, custom-order enquiries, accounts, and content — designed around a small business's identity rather than a generic template.

Do you design the brand experience or just build the site?

Both. For Cakery 19 we started from the brand — plant-based, seasonal, handcrafted — and let that drive the design, so the storefront feels like an extension of the craft. We co-develop the experience, not just the code.

How much does a storefront like this cost?

It depends on scope — catalogue size, payments, custom-order flows, and content. A focused small-business storefront sits at the lighter end of a custom build. Share what you have in mind and we'll give you a clear estimate.
